Product and purchase

Finance Ledger for Mac is a one-time purchase. After checkout through Stripe you receive a private, time-limited download link for the Mac app. Your purchase grants a licence to use the software; there is no separate activation portal. Future updates we make available are included at no extra charge.

General help

Finance Ledger is a local-first personal finance app for Mac. It is designed for manual tracking without a bank connection. Your financial records stay on your device.

Installation

After a successful purchase, open the confirmation page download link, open the DMG, and drag Finance Ledger to Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple for Apple Silicon Macs. If Gatekeeper prompts you, follow the usual macOS steps to open an app from an identified developer.

Backup and restore

Because your financial data is stored locally, keep regular Mac backups (for example Time Machine) so you can restore Finance Ledger data if you replace or repair your computer. More detailed backup guidance may be expanded here as the product documentation grows.

Moving to a new Mac

Restore your data from a backup onto the new Mac, then install Finance Ledger again using your purchase download when needed. Contact support if you need help locating a prior purchase download after a successful payment.

Troubleshooting

If the app will not open, check that you are on an Apple Silicon Mac, that the download completed, and that macOS security settings allow the signed app. For download link expiry, return to your Stripe confirmation link soon after payment or email support with your purchase details so we can help with fulfilment.
